I am working with themes of systemic injustice, alienation, and human experience through poetic
metaphor, visual
storytelling, and participatory methods. With a background in expanded design and arts, her practice
merges immersive installations, community engagement, and critical research to provoke dialogue around
education, identity, and social structures.
Subista completed her BA (Hons) in Interdisciplinary Expanded Design and Arts at Beaconhouse National
University (Lahore) as a UNESCO Madanjeet Singh scholar. Her thesis investigates alienation in education
systems, using symbolic experiences to reconnect audiences with childhood memory and critique
institutional rigidity. Her recent installation, Ephemeral Atmosphere (2024), a
projection-mapped
piece which explores fragility and impermanence, exemplifies her interest in sensory, existential
narratives.
Beyond gallery spaces, she employs human-centered design to address real-world inequities, such as
co-creating portable retail solutions for street vendors (Jugaar and the City, 2024) and contributing to
archival projects like the Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya’s Nepali book cover cataloging. Her skills are in
multimedia from illustration and animation to 3D modeling and projection mapping; her work bridges art,
research, and activism, always prioritizing ethical collaboration and inclusive storytelling.
